From Silent Battles to Empowered Voices

There was a time when I didn’t know how to tell my story—when silence felt safer than truth. But silence, as I’ve come to learn, can be its own battlefield. Today, I no longer sit in the silence. I stand in the truth. And I speak—not just for myself, but for the women and children still finding the courage to use their voice.

I experienced childhood sexual trauma. It’s a wound that doesn’t just scar the body—it shapes the soul. And for a long time, I thought strength meant pretending it didn’t happen. But true strength came when I realized healing doesn’t come from hiding—it comes from honest, messy, brave truth-telling.

As a Navy Veteran, I know what it means to serve others. But my greatest mission today is helping others reclaim their voice. That’s why I created Finding Your Voice—a coaching and advocacy platform committed to helping women and children break generational silence, access healing, and walk boldly into purpose.

In tandem, Speaking From the Lens, my media company, captures legacies through photography, videography and storytelling. From branding shoots for speakers and authors to documenting sacred retreats, we don’t just take pictures and videos—we preserve courage.

I bring this same energy to my books—Help Me Tell and Together in the Trenches—and to every workshop, devotional, or podcast I lead. Because survivors don’t need pity. They need tools, truth, and a community that sees them.

My children, Micah and Aniyah, are watching me walk out this healing in real time. And they’re learning that trauma doesn’t get the last word—resilience does. Legacy does. Faith does.

That’s why I’m honored to be a part of Shero Coffee Club. We’re not just sipping lattes and swapping stories. We’re igniting movements. We’re rewriting narratives. We’re choosing voice over silence, legacy over shame, and healing over hiding.

It takes a lot of courage to tell the truth, especially when you've been through such terrible pain. You are not only finding your own voice again, but you are also making spaces where others can do the same. "Finding Your Voice" and "Speaking From the Lens" are more than just platforms for people who need help the most. Especially moving is the way you use photography and film to…
